The trekking
A trekking in Sumatra is a unique journey that few people have experienced. Our rainforest holds endemic species of animals and plants that can only be seen in our island. The main aim of our trekking will be the sighting of fauna and flora. We will walk pretty long distances through the dense rainforest quietely and mainly in silence, trying not to aware the animals of our presence, thus increasing the chances of seeing the maximum number of species possible.
Normally, our trekking will start and finish in the small village near the jungle called Bukit Lawang. We will leave the village walking and the last day we will take a hand made boat to return to the village through our big river. In the village, you will be able to fully charge your batteries before starting the trekking, as well as take a healing shower and good rest after our journey. Bukit Lawang has few guesthouses and restaurants that will cover your necessities.

Trekking format
I offer personalized trekkings, designed to meet your expectations. Our trekking can be as long as one day until 9-10 days, and about 5-6 hours of walking every day. I always adapt the paths and difficulty in relation to the customer fitness. Please note that long trekkings are really physically demanding and spending 9 days in the jungle can be as gorgeous as exhausting, thus some physical form is required for those trekkings.
Spending one night in the jungle is a wonderful experience that I strongly recommend. The sounds of the jungle change at night, making it is a fantastic moment for enjoying some indonesian coffee or tea, while playing some jungle games after a long day in the rainforest. Here are some options, but note that you can choose the number of days you want.
- 3D2N (recommended)
In my opinion the best format is a 3 days and 2 nights (3D2N) trekking (spending both nights in the jungle). For that trekking format, it is very possible to observe some wild monkeys such as macaques, Thomas leaf monkeys, baboons and our most precious creatures: orangutans. Many insects and reptiles are also possibly seen. It is the best format for those looking to connect with the spirit of the jungle, observe several animal species and plants and see the jungle in all day times, without requireing an enormous physicall effort.
- 2D1N
For those that don't have of a lot of time in Sumatra, a 2 days trek is also a good choice. It is time enough to make an idea of what a rainforest is and be able to observe some wild fauna and flora.
- 7D6N
If you want to see the very misterious creatures of the jungle, this should be your choice. If you are ready for a long distance trek, we will go deeper into the jungle, making it an unforgetable experience. As always, our trek will start at Bukit Lawang but we will be getting deeper into the jungle until we reach the older rainforest, a place where the trees and vegetation are bigger and very few tourists explore. This is the place of the misterious and well hidden wild creatures, such as the Sumatran Rhino, the Suimatran Elephant and the Sumatran Tiger. It is quite possible to observe wild elephants living in small groups, wehereas sighting rhinos is much harder. Also, seeing a wild tiger is probably the hardest because these meravellous animals have a big smell sense and they will hide just after smelling us. However there is a chance of observing its footprints on the wet ground or rests of its hair. In these long trekks there is always the possibility of seeing those animals, although it is hard and never guaranted.
A good rule
The more days we go, the higher the chances of observing more fauna. Of course I can never guarantee a certain number of animal sightings, but I promise I will do my best to find as much as possible animals.

What do I need to bring?
Energy to enjoy.
As you could expect, the rainforest is a very humit and warm place, so water and food supplies are essential during the journey. We will stop every certain time to drink and rest while enjoying some local fruits that our rainforest provides. Lunch will be served and eaten in the middle of the jungle, while dinner will be always done in our hand made campbase. Basically, during the trekk you don't have to worry about anything, just enjoy. Everything is in our hands and we will take care of you. A porter and a cooker will be travelling with us if you are planning to stay several nights at the jungle.
